Why try to explain miracles to your kids when you can just have them plant a garden.

ReplyDeleteLove the big gloves. My husband had to work in the yard as a kid and really doesn't like it now. Mind you his dad was a landscaper and he also had to help in other peoples yards too.
ReplyDeletethis is so very true. my children and i grew our own pumpkins last year. There is nothing more miraculous or magical than watching your seed turn into a large orange pumpkin!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely always give a child a little plot of dirt (a raised bed is even better), a set of gardening implements, a watering can, a few plants and packets of seeds, and let them practice with their little green thumbs!!! The look on their little faces when something sprouts or blooms, in their very own garden, is precious.

Maggie, that photo is darling. Yes, indeed start them young. I come by my love of gardening from my grandmother and mother. I don't have the green thumb they had, but there is no doubt I have the green gene. :-) When I taught first grade, we always had a garden plot. It was the best learning experience!

Gardening is a wonderful thing to do with children. Your nephew looks so determined. Our children are in their 20's but if they're around when we're planting the vegetable garden or digging the potatoes they enjoy it as much as we do. Sunshine Always - Sheila
