Duomo di Sant' Andrea, Amalfi.

The most memorable part of our day in Amalfi was our visit to the Duomo di Sant' Andrea, despite having to climb up 62 steps to reach it.


The 11th century Chiostro (cloister) del Paradiso 
Once inside you are immediately captivated by the peace and serenity of the Cloister of Paradise.


The sections of the passageway walls reveal some of the original mosiac tiles, stucco and intricate doorways.


Built in the early 1200's the Cathedral crypt holds the relics of St Andrew, the patron saint of Amalfi, Scotland and Russia.

    I hope there was some lovely treat afterwards to compensate for the calories burned on the climb!
    The church is quite fabulous. Such a treasure! I didn't realise that St Andrew was the patron saint of more than Scotland.

    It's gorgeous inside and out. What a treat for the eyes.
    To answer your question, no I don't display the paper-dolls. (Occasionally one will come out for a special occasion.) Most are tucked away in clear acid-free sleeves, in binders, so they can be easily viewed but also protected from sunlight and spills.

    Wonderful captures of those cute putti and cherubs surrounding the base of the Duomo fountain and 62 steps up to the beautiful cloisters de paradiso ...I'm sure you felt it was worth the climb.

    Hi Maggie .. you asked what camera I used it's a DSLR Cannon 600D. I've only had it for 5 months but am loving it althought a bit heavier than my little point and shoot. What a beautiful corner of the world you live in.

    Maggie- the cathedral is beautiful--
    One of our favorite things about our trip to Europe was visiting the cathedrals in the many places we went. They are magnificent-- we have nothing here that even compares. Your photos are magnificent!
