A Portrait of Nicholas. Personal Photo Challenge, July.

When I visited one of my very favourite blogs earlier today - Mary's "A Breath of Fresh Air" I was blown away once again by her amazing photography.
In this case a set of three portraits which she had linked to the monthly challenge hosted by Donna @  "A Personal Photo Challenge".
On clicking through to Donna's blog I noticed several other bloggers whose blog's I follow had also linked to the challenge and I was inspired to join in with this portrait of my youngest nephew, Nicholas, which I took during a visit to Normandy in August 2011.

I'm not a very accomplished photographer.
I use a Panasonic DMC-ZS3 which was handed down to me by my husband and I have it set to IA mode (Intelligent Auto) ready for me to simply point and shoot.
To crop, enhance, resize and generally modify my photographs for blogging and scrap booking I always use Ashampoo Photo Commander 11, and Picasa and Photoscape for collages and mosaics.

  2. Hi dear Maggie - was so please you stopped by this morning, and then decided to join in the 'challenge'. Hope you come back each month - Donna is smashing and gives us a lot of tips plus directs us to great photographic articles, really helpful.

Nicolas is a cute boy and I love the pose you caught. No matter your camera equipment, anything we are able to catch in the lens can become special. I'm finding my small point and shoot (the only one I took along for the recent Baltic cruise) works really well for me - light and small to carry, no fiddling about changing to big lenses etc., and, if you've looked at the St. Petersburg pics I took, I think they are fine.

Hope life is good - your new blog format looks really nice, love the pics in the header.

Have a wonderful weekend and hope to see you blogging often!
    Hugs - Mary

  7. Lovely to see you at Donna's photo challenge Maggie!
Nicholas is sweet and appears quite nonchalant about being the focus of your lens!!!

I spoke to my daughter in France a day or so ago and she is tearing her hair out with the rainy days during school holidays - cabin fever is setting in!!!
