Inondation - translation - flooding.
It has been raining it seems non-stop for days and my small corner of Normandy
is under water to an alarming degree.
The garden is soggy.
The daffodils are drowning.
in our driveway
and the field next door.
Roadside ditches are overwhelmed.
Entrances to fields are quagmires.
Adult dogs become water babies once again.
But, spring is on her way.

ReplyDeleteHi Maggie ~~ Those rains should bring lots of pretty flowers (I will hope for you). Been to Normandy five times (could be six??) and I never get enough. Three times Mt. St. Michael was our destination. Stayed in hotels there twice. Never get enough of France, been there more -- last spring was last time. Almost once (or twice) for the last fourteen years. We may slow down soon, getting old.

In Belgium it rains for weeks too ! Your pictures could have been taken here ! I am so fed up with the rain !

Well, it will be a long time till we see spring here -- but boy, that's a rough entry. Hope everything is OK and survives the deluge!

ReplyDeleteI only wish we had more water in my neighborhood. The icicles have melted, and there is little rain. I guess my part of Oklahoma is considered southwest. Stage 3 mandatory water restrictions here... {:-Deb

Oh, goodness, Maggie...this is incredible. I hope all of you are safe. It's never good for foundations. And spring already? I remember how quickly your spring came in the past few years we have been friends...this is just amazing! Love it!

And we have snow on the ground. Destined to be melted away, the snow is now hard and crunchy and dirty. Time for it to go. Hopefully you will soon have sun, too.
ReplyDeleteTime to get out the wellies! We've had a bit of rain recently, but TX is still in a severe drought with the lakes at record lows. Wish you could send some of that rain this way. '-)
ReplyDeleteWell I won't complain about our rain which, although falling again today, is not pelting down to make ponds and quagmires thankfully. I have wellies at the ready though just in case!
ReplyDeleteHope by now you're enjoying drier days and some sunshine dear. We're supposed to have a perfect week ahead with warmer temps. and plenty of sun, so I hope to get some much-needed walking in!

Looks gooshy, but the rain will make the flowers thrive later on.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the farms here in Northern Ireland with the heavy rain and snow we have had recently. Also reminds me of the fact that we don't have wellies anymore since my husband's family sold their farm.
