summertime - raspberries & tea in the garden.

The lazy, hazy days of summer are finally here.
This week I've spent my afternoons glued to the television
watching amazing tennis being played at the
All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon.

golden raspberries, so sweet I eat them straight from the canes
The heat is on, literally and figuratively.
Who will win the mens final
Andy Murray
or
Roger Federer?

Today is Sunday so no play today.
Instead a chance to enjoy another of my summer time favourite things
tea in the garden, next to the potager which is thriving.

courgettes; parsley, chives & thyme; herbs & raspberry canes; mesclun salad leaves
How are you spending your afternoons now that summer's here?

  2. Your garden is so lovely. Raspberries and tea ... yum! Between Wimbledon, baseball, the holiday weekend and the Tour de France, I don't know where to start! So, I'm drinking tea, reading a book and trying to stay cool! Happy Weekend!

  7. I love your setting for tea - and the yellow raspberries. Don't know that I've ever seen those before. We are spending our summer days enjoying unusually warm weather and lots of sunshine.

  8. Work has finally slowed down a bit and I'm happy to have time to read, watch some tv, pull weeds and spend a little time going slow and daydreaming. It is so nice once the sun sets to sit and watch the fireflies. Summer is so wonderful.

  9. It's been too hot here to enjoy afternoon tea in the garden, we've had the shutters closed and been taking a siesta each afternoon. early mornings in the garden have been enjoyable, so we've had B/fast on the terrace everyday since the heatwave.. Loved your pictures for Mosaic Monday. Enjoy the tennis, I know I should be shouting for Murray, but I'm shouting for Federa :)

  14. I've never had golden raspberries but they look as delicious as the red. I spend my mornings puttering in the garden and afternoons sitting outside enjoying the weather. Afternoons around 3 pm finds me in the tea house beside the pond with a cup of tea and usually a sweet. Sometimes it's iced tea if it is hot out.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Maggie.

  15. Your tea setting is so very pretty, Maggie. I love drinking tea outdoors. Your golden raspberries look tasty - I've never tried them and like Judith, wonder if they are similar to the red ones. These days I'm puttering about my garden in the mornings, doing a little sewing and reading in the afternoons, and of course, finding time for the housework that just doesn't do itself.

  17. Hi Maggie. That looks and sounds so lovely Maggie. Tea in your garden, the photo's are so pretty. I believe it is as hot as it is here in France. Very tiring. I try to keep calm and delete work as much as I can.

  18. How beautiful everything looks in your garden! If we want to get outside or walk, it has to be in the mornings. The afternoons are spend inside with the air conditioning and fans running....but I love it! Enjoy your week! Hugs, Diane
