Spring flowers & flooded ditches.

Monday has come around again in the blink of an eye and so we head to one of the most interesting blogs I know, Mary's thelittle redhouse, for Mosaic Monday.
After last weeks torrential rain and gale force winds had subsided I went out to try and capture the feel of it all.

Although we were not as badly affected as the Charente Maritime and other regions, the rain had no where to go as the surrounding fields were still sodden from previous storms.

The water was draining into the ditches at the side of the lane so fast that waterfalls and rushing streams formed along the way.

One bright note, the wild primroses and orchids are begining to show at last.

  1. I'm glad to hear that you weren't too terribly affected by the severe weather. Your mosaics are really lovely this evening - they give a real sense of the change of season that is 'flooding' into your part of the world.

  2. Maggie, that's a lot of rain! I can't believe the water in the ditches (that looks like a rushing stream!). Your mosaics are so pretty, and it is wonderful to see flowers in bloom.

  3. Morning Maggie, some of our fields nearby are flooded, even some gardens here as we have a high water table. It is lovely to see the Spring flowers struggling to flower though isn't it.

We have a lovely sunny morning here in the UK, but it is very cold out, still need to wrap up warm!!

We have had a mixture of weather so far, lets just hope that Spring and Summer will be warm and dry.

Great mosaics,I love the way you have a background photo and then the others on top.

    Have a good Monday, Jackie

Glad the storm has gone and not too much damage. You captured the wetness very well.

  12. I didn't know there were real primroses in French hedgerows too - we English thought they were ours alone!!!! Lovely pics, but perhaps enough is enough and soon it will dry up for you.

Meanwhile, bet having a pair of good wellies is the best and most fashionable footwear these days!

    Stay safe - Mary

  13. Wonderful mosaics, Maggie! Some speak better than words. That is a lot of flooding! But at least you have the cheer of some lovely flowers blooming.

All the snow in our northern states will cause a lot of flooding when it thaws.
