God's Fence

In most small villages and towns in our region you will find a "calvaire",
a monument erected by the inhabitants which depicts Christ's cruxifiction.
The calvaire above is situated by the roadside
in the tiny "hameau" (hamlet) of La Folie, Normandy.
I particularly like the rustic fence of interlocked XXX at it's base.

  1. That is a unique fence. The cross looks almost like it's made of stone - same colour as the rocks beneath it.

  2. The 'calvair' is really beautiful Maggie - and how wonderful there is nothing defacing it! As I travel I'm so tired of seeing lovely places covered in graffiti. The little fence of 'kisses' is so pretty and quite appropriate.

    1. Mary, you make a very good point regarding graffit. We see some when traveling through large towns but not very much in rural areas. I can't ever imagine a calvaire being defaced in such a way.

  6. Like a surrounding of X's and hugs as it can be depicted in typing the letter 'x' and 'o'. This is a wonderful scene, portraying for me much serenity.
