Metamorphosis Monday

It's the start of the week so it must be time for Metamorphosis Monday hosted once again by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.
Click here to see all the great ideas & projects that others have been working on.

All summer long I have been participating in the "92 days of summer" scrapbooking competition being hosted by Cat & the DT over at Your Memories by Design.

They had the great idea that we should take a photograph every day and then each week produce a layout, of either one or two pages, using 7 photographs that best represent the week we just had.

The competition runs for 13 weeks in all.

So my very first contribution to MM is a scrapbook page layout "before and after".

This is the collection of items that I thought I might use for my week 10 page.

This was a trial run of how to arrange the photos. My theme was "signs".

I had been around and about that week taking pix of signs that I found quirky and interesting.

A restaurant where we had lunch one day, the local bar/tabac/convenience store, a seller of lobster & crabs, the wine sellers, a street name & a tourist route road side sign.

.

The finished LO includes photo #7, I decided upon a rusty old "Stop" sign but photographed from the back to make it more interesting.

Happy Metamorphis Monday everyone!!

The dechetterie, an experience not to be missed!

Every country in Europe has it's own rules & regulations regarding recycling, it seems.

When we first moved to France, almost 13 years ago, our household garbage was collected every 2 weeks (!) after a couple of years this changed to weekly.

There were also twice yearly collections of old/unwanted metal items. These had to be placed in the street for collection and reminded us of the "sperrmuhl" collections we enjoyed when we lived in Bavaria

Things remained that way for a long time and then we received a letter telling of a special card/permis that we could obtain from "la mairie" which would entitle us to use the local "dechetterie" or as we like to refer to it "the dump".

This certainly opened up a new world of special containers in which we could dispose of all those tricky items we had stashed in the outbuildings. Hazardous products such as old paint cans & aerosols, polysterene chips (the bane of my life), unwanted clothing, broken electrical items and much much more, the list was endless.

The "dechetterie" is very strictly operated by the "Gardien" who demands to see your "permis" when you arrive and then watches like a hawk to make sure that, heaven forfend, you place something in the wrong container.

So.....we loaded up the car at the weekend and went to the dump and as is the case with almost everything we do these days I captured the moment with my trusty Nikon Coolpix for a scrapbook LO. I think it turned out quite well, n'est pas.

I'll tell you about the bottle bank another day..............................

more scrapbooking stuff

I don't usually post more than once in a day but I've been working on a double LO for YMBD's Saturday Scraplift Challenge this afternoon and am so tickled with it that I want to blog (brag) about it tout suite!
The theme of the LO is "we love Cancun" and includes pix from our last visit in 2006 when our great friends Diane & JR, from Dallas, TX. joined us there. We love spending time in their company.
