Have you ever seen a Normandy snowplow??

Had fun yesterday morning playing out in the snow, taking photographs around the village and in the churchyard.

I met up with my neighbour Marc, a farmer, herdsman, milk producer, local politician (2nd Mayoral adjunct) and now snowplow driver.

He cleared the lane so Mr B could drive to the epicerie for our daily bread.
That's what I call initiative. 2 large hay bales on the front of his tractor, job done!

You probably saw a photo of Benny the snow dog in one of my Christmas mosaics, click here if you missed it.

Well, this is how we get rid of those troublesome balls of snow that build up on his legs.

A bowl of lovely warm water will do the trick every time. Can you see the look in his eye that says "this is so undignified!"?

  1. Hilarious! Nope, I've never seen that kind of snowplow :) You sure seem to live an idyllic life over there...and my dog HATES to have the snow balls removed in water!

  3. Benny is a cutie! If you don't have it, you make do. It worked!

  4. Maggie, as long as it gets the job done, the snowplow is great. Mr. Ben looks like he is rather enjoying the water to me, maybe his paws needed some relaxation and warming up after the outing.

    Love your new look!

  5. Maggie, that Ben is a gorgeous boy - great pic of him and you. Bet you got the snowmen mailbox cover over here, didn't you? It's cute.

Take care during the cold snap - I also commented on your previous post about the awful weather in the UK.

    Stay warm - Mary.

  7. OH, my! We have it too, and it's supposed to snow even more over the weekend. This time it's coming from the East, though, rather than from UK.

I love the dog story. Great way to get rid of the snowshoes! I'm looking forward to Paris--whenever we get there!

  8. Love to see that pictures of snow everywhere. Here in Texas it is a very rare scene.
Tell you sweet pup that we gals pay of pretty penny for a foot treatment like that ;-)
Stay warm and thanks for you visit...Cheers!

  9. I had a St. Bernard that hated the snow. I would have needed a much bigger bowl.
Benny looks like he is wondering why he is being punished. Poor cute Benny.

  10. Maggie, cute photo of both you and Benny. Very cold here but no snow. Fine with me. I think snow is pretty, but it sure makes life difficult. We don't have a tractor with hay bales. LOL
Stay warm and cozy. ~ Sarah

  11. I sure do see that look in his eyes...and "Mom,do you have to photograph this?!". That's so sweet you do that for him - gotta take good care of our fur babies.

I noticed how much more nicely-dressed your plow-driver looks than the ones we used to see in Oklahoma ;) I guess that's French style for ya.

  12. I use to spray my dogs feet with Pam cooking vegetable spray and then the snow did not stick to his feet. Of course he smelled like olive oil and make tracks on the floors for days:) He use to then love to lick his feet because I guess they tasted good with the olive oil spray:) Your photo reminded me of my late dog named Sake pronounced like Japanese wine.

  13. Good Morning Maggie Sweetie...
Thank you for stopping by. I always love visiting with new friends and going to new places. I popped over to read your blog a little, and oh my gosh what a beautiful blog home you have here. I so enjoyed my visit. I have signed up to follow your blog. I can't wait to see where you take me next.

Love your critter. What we ever do without our faithful companions? They are just the best, and yes he sure does look like he's saying, "Oh Mom, all the other kids get to let their snowballs melt off normally, why do I have to go through this each time?" How very sweet.

Have a beautiful day, and thank you for sharing with me today. I so enjoyed my stay here.

    Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

What great pictures you took! We have a major snow blizzard happening here today. As long as I can sit here inside nice and toasty warm and watch it snow outside, I really enjoy it! LOL

  18. Oh Maggie, Love it! When I was a young one we had a poodle. I grew up in Mi and in the winter there was so much snow. Poor Nugget had snowballs on his legs so... we would soak them in warm water. I recognize that look on Benny's face.

Stay warm my friend. I wish I could sent some AZ warmth to everyone.

    hugs,
    Barb

  25. Maggie,
Well now you've answered the question of how you handle dog's snow balls. Poor babies, they don't like the snow and cold weather either.
