I'm joining Marty's Table Top Tuesday @ A Stroll through Life today for the first time with photo's of an antique English washstand which I have had for over 25 years and resides inside the now defunct fireplace in our dining room.
I'm also joining Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner for 3 or more Tuesday.
Why not treat yourselves to some wonderful vignettes and interesting collections by visiting both of these very gracious hosts but do please leave a comment so I know who came calling at le Presbytère today.
This is where I display my small collection of Desvres souvenir faience.I'm also joining Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner for 3 or more Tuesday.

A sweet young woman carrying a basket, she holds salt for us at the dinner table, a small bud vase which bears the legend "Plestin les Greve", an oil and vinegar cruet set, a souvenir from Mont St Michel in original holder.A small trinket box with the Brittany crest and "A Ma Vie" inscription, and in the background a large platter produced for sale in Cancale, Brittany. The space beneath the washstand is not wasted, DH finds it's the perfect place for a small wine rack.
Hi Maggie,
ReplyDeleteLoved your vignette. Clever wine rack. I am in love with faience. I just might have to go on a hunt to find a piece or two.

HI Maggie. I love the washstand and wine rack and bien sure vous etes en France.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice evening
Lovely vignettes, the faience are such wonderful items and your large "le Presbytère" must be the ideal display place! Jackie
ReplyDeletePretty items for your tabletop and I also like your "F" alpha in your previous post.

Maggie, great spot for the little washstand. Isn't it fun that so many of our new friends in Blogland are getting excited about French faience? I hope we begin to get some new members!
ReplyDeleteFirst day of spring! Are you seeing any signs yet?
Maggie another lovely display.Creative use of space too.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!
Lovely! That platter in the back is beautiful! The whole vignette is so pretty on the marble.

What a pretty vignette. The glow from that faience is what I find so appealing.
ReplyDeleteI like the placement of that small winerack and may copy that in our dining room, under a small corner table. I love blog-found ideas!
Wow, are those pieces so pretty! Are these pieces antiques? You must have a large fireplace to put the washstand inside. It is lovely too! Joan
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie! What a beautiful vignette! I love your faïence collection! I scrolled down and had a peek at your previous posts. Love the Obernai platter! I'm afraid that if I still lived in France, I'd have no room in my house. It would be full of dishes! And no, alas, the candlesticks are not Quimper. My collection is very small. Have a great week!...Debbie
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely vignette you've created. I especially love that lady...she's just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pieces you have. Love that table, too.
ReplyDeleteMaggie this is absolutely beautiful! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures, and vignettes are great, love your blog.
ReplyDeleteExquisite, Maggie! And I do love faience.
ReplyDeleteLove your wine rack placement too!
I was lucky enough many years ago to find a pair of small chests with drawers and marble tops. I have them on either side of my bed. Love the marble tops...carefree and spills don't matter.
Oh I love the wash stand and your vignette is just stunning. Such beautiful pieces. I don't think I have ever seen faience, but it is just gorgeous. I love it all. Such beautiful colors and details. Thank you so much for joining the party today, I am so happy to have found your blog. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteYour faience collection is so pretyt on the table, Maggie. Love the table, so practical...Christine
ReplyDeleteVery attractive vignette!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had that wash stand! Your displays are very elegant.

Beautiful tablescape Maggie - love everything.
ReplyDeleteAm curious about the marble top - is it red marble? If so, it could very well be Caunes marble from the quarry in my brother's village in the Monervois. The red and pink marble has been used in most of the famous European historic buildings including Versailles. It is still cut altho' the quarry is now owned by an Italian company I believe.
Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I found your site I have linked up, and I am now following you. Pop on over and see mine. I would love to hear from you.
I wish I could keep an orchid. They hate me.
I love your vignette. The washstand really caught my eye. The little figures are so pretty as well. Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment on my blog at my Tabletop Tuesday post. :) I hope you're having a wonderful day.
