W stands for Wisteria.

Just four more weeks of Mrs Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday classes, then school's out for summer!
One of my garden favourites here at the Presbytère is this beautiful Wisteria.
I'm not sure how old it is, it was already in situ when we moved in almost 14 years ago.

Every year, sometimes twice a year, it produces these beautiful blossoms and perfumes the garden with it's delicate scent.

Quickly seguing into my favourite US TV show Desperate Housewives who all in live in Wisteria Lane.
Click here for a wikipedia rundown on the Lane, it's occupants and surprisingly how the Universal lot has been used in the past.
I was amazed to see how the same sets had been used in previous shows and who had lived there. I found it fascinating.

See you in class!

  1. Another one of my "loves", english rose! Smells wonderful but takes over a house when planted next to it as evidenced at my daughter's house! LOL

We jokingly say that I'm "going shopping for..." when I need something and look for it around here. We surely have it! Wish you were closer. :)

  4. Maggie, you must be up late. :-)

Love seeing your wisteria. I think the wisteria here was prettier than I've ever seen it. It must have liked the cold winter. We don't have one in our yard, but get to enjoy them around the neighborhood.
    Enjoy the day. ~ Sarah

  9. Maggie,

Love the wisteria. I could never grow it. I would so admire it on the porch of an old Maine farmhouse.

Beautiful pictures. Have a great weekend.

  10. Doesn't wisteria perfume the garden beautifully. Mine bloomed much earlier here - guess it was in April - but I was so thrilled as it was the first year.....I'd waited the expected 7 years from it's tiny start and it came through right on time! It's huge now and I have to read up on pruning otherwise it's going to take over!! I wonder if I'll get a second boom - that would be great!

Love how your plant looks, how huge is it Maggie? Is it climbing on the house?

  12. Wisteria is gorgeous, a plant I've always admired but have not had room for. However, I'm thinking I might find a place in this new garden we are planning.

  24. Ooooh... I am giving a sigh of absolutely true love.

Wisteria is one of my all-time favorite garden flowers. I am always transported to English gardens and old brick walls and grass drifted with lavender blossoms.

Such a lovely link this week.

Thank you for sharing this magical post with us.

    A+
