Do you have one of these?
A cupboard where you shove store all your Tupperware and other storage containers.
Every time I need a container I can never find the corresponding lid and so have to take most of it out, or else it falls on the floor of its own accord, whilst I rummage search through them all.
And why is the one I want always at the back?
Just thought I’d ask, I can’t be the only one?

Maggie,
ReplyDeleteFor a minute there I thought you had been in my kitchen cupboard! Thanks for the comment about Rich - he was great and so is Jack!
Carol
Oh Maggie.... you hit home with this one! Made me LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut why, oh why, didn't you share how you "fix" for this problem?! I think I know why... it seems that no matter what we do it always returns back to this state!!!
The best that I have come up with (so far) is to have two big baskets... one for the lids and one for the containers. Still a mess :/
Thanks again for coming to the party!
xoxo Bunny Jean
Wednesday's Bunny Hop Party!
I have a cupboard like that. I do a purge every so often and the next day it is a mess. I think we need a www.com site where we can add extra pieces and they can be claimed by others who need them.
ReplyDeleteYes Maggie. I have just the same cupboard.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to solve it by fitting everything into each other: graduated by size and shape. Then using elastic bands to keep the lids together. It works perfectly until I take things in or out. Then, I'm always in a hurry - and -well - it looks like this again.
Anna
Ha! don't we all have such a cupboard, or two or three.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, tupperware. I have it in a deep kitchen drawer and it is exactly th same, I can't control the tupperware. LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs from Riet
I have the same cabinet!! After awhile I throw all the unsorted pieces out and buy new. It's very frustrating!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
you are not alone
ReplyDeleteand why is it, the day after you sort the cupbard and throw out the orphaned lids [or tubs] you find their matching tubs [or lids]???
I do not have plastic because I am convinced that most petroleum products are from Satan ;P
ReplyDeleteI use all glass, old-fashioned refrigerator boxes!
And you do not want to see how messy my cabinets are because you would unfollow me!
Do I have one? Oh yes, I do! The difference between yours and mine is that mine is an 'upper' so that when things tumble they hit me on the head. I think I'd better make a switch to a lower cupboard because, heaven knows, I'm not likely to ever have an organised Tupperware cupboard!
ReplyDeleteMaggie, I think this is an age old problem of most kitchens round the globe. The "chef" got frustrated with just this problem and decided to buy sets of stacking pieces and puts the lids under the corresponding stack. All this fits perfectly organized into a deep drawer. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed catching up on your posts after returning from visiting Europe. Oh, I have a cabinet that looks just like yours...I guess we all do.
ReplyDeleteI have a cupboard just like that. I'm pretty sure that's why cupboard doors were invented. Shutting the door solves the problem - temporarily. Out of sight, out of mind.
ReplyDeleteTruly, there is nothing more annoying than those plastic containers. Nothing is the same shape, there is no way to stack! We all have cupboards that look just like that, Maggie!
ReplyDeleteMaggie - you've given me an idea for a future post. I have one of those cupboards and curse it when everything falls out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in - I got the linky all fixes and your link is up.

Claudia
Haha! Of course I have that too! I would like to know where the tops go off to, with all those single socks perhaps? Ann
ReplyDeleteBecause of the problem zone, I got rid of my tupperware some time ago. I only have three containers and therefore it's easy to find the lid that fits.
ReplyDeleteAs a side effect my fridge is never stuffed. It might be a disaavantage that I have to eat up. ;-)
I HAVE A CABINET JUST LIKE YOURS, I AM ALWAYS STRAIGHTEN IT OUT...BUT BEFORE YOU KNOW IT....IT IS BACK TO THE SAME WAY.......RIZZI
ReplyDeleteI've seen that pile fall out before. I finally gave away a pile of Tupperware/plastic containers and only kept the sizes I used frequently. Still have too many.
ReplyDelete- Joy
Yep.'nuff said?
ReplyDeleteWell, I have a drawer like that, and when it doesn't close any more, I drag everything out and donate most of it. Everything fits nicely until they start having Tupperware babies in there again. Love, Linda
ReplyDeleteIt's the hardest thing to keep organized - yet how many containers does a person really need - the problem is I never know and if I throw something out then I'll need it right away. My corner cupboard is always a mess even if I've cleaned it up a few days before. Think of the time we all waste looking for lids. Maybe the answer is just cooking every day and putting those leftovers in the soup pot right away.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness- I am positive you are not the only one- I have this same cupboard. Seems like I always have a few bowls that have lost their lids too- where do they go? Are they living somewhere with the lost socks? Great reality post!
