A lovely pastoral scene. Is that your home in the photo? I've heard of conkers but have never played, nor do I know how. Would have to check out the link.
Conkers??? You made me curious, so I had to look and learned something new!! As kids we always compared who had the most, the biggest and you definitely were the lucky one if yours had more then one in it.
Maggie, the horse chestnuts are gorgeous for fall decorating. That's about all I would know to do with them. You'll have to teach me how to play Conkers! Enjoy the season.
My goddaughter just sent me a note from TX asking if I had conkers and if I could send her some. I wasn't sure Rick's tree nuts were those and tonight I was going to have to google a conker. Not anymore! I can see why she wanted them! They are very cool nuts!
I will play! Though my guess for kids today is that they will throw them at each other and if the other kid cries or losses an eye you win!
ReplyDeleteThey make for pretty pictures, Maggie! It looks like fall has settled in in Normandy!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I never heard of conkers Maggie but it must be nice.

ReplyDeleteConkers sounds like it would hurt. But, I would be willing to try to play. Thanks for sharing the link, have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteDid you say:"Oddly oddly onker my first conker" when you found the first one of the season? ;-)
ReplyDeleteCute post, Maggie. ~ Sarah

It sounds fun. Unless you get clocked with one :) Conkers. I first thought it had something to do with them falling from the tree and hitting someone!

We're having hickory nuts come down on Rick's patio, table, our heads! A sure sign of fall.
ReplyDeletethank you for explaining this! it was part of an episode of Lark Rise to Candleford. I was a bit unclear on the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI saw them last year when we went to France. Haven't seen them here in the part of Holland where I live. Beautiful photos. xo Jenny
