Still trying to get ourselves sorted here at home after our recent trip to the Yorkshire Dales.
I have many photographs to sift through and there will be plenty more for you to see but for today just take a deep breath and take in the view at the top of Arkengarthdale, almost 300 meters above sea level.
Swaledale sheep are hardy beasts!
I took these photographs on our way from Reeth in Swaledale to Barnard Castle, Co. Durham. As the weather had turned mild we took the Arkengarthdale road not the easiest option as it turned out.
Barnard Castle is a lovely historic market town home to the Bowes Museum which we enjoyed visiting. More about that in another post soon.
Joyeuse Paques!
You certainly had a different sort of spring holiday, with all that snow! I'm glad you're safely home, and I look forward to seeing some more photos and learning a bit about the places you mention. Bishop Princes or Prince Bishops sound interesting!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrr.....glad you two are safely back in your warm cozy home, Maggie. It's mild here, on the cool side, and we have a fire going this morning. Doubt we'll have many more days like this. '-)
ReplyDeleteEager to see more photos from your Yorkshire trip. That's the area where my grandfather grew up.
Will send an email later........Sarah
I've missed you and glad you're back safely and weren't buried in a snow drift! Goodness, the UK has certainly had its fair share of bad Winter and now Spring weather this year - it was still snowing in Devon last week according to my cousin!
ReplyDeleteThe Dales look so beautiful in any weather - lovely pics and look forward to hearing more about your trip.
Spring blooms are late here - no dogwoods or azaleas blooming for Easter but I spy some green buds on the trees now.
Sending Easter blessings Maggie -
Hugs, Mary
OH, but that looks cold. And that blessed sheep. Hardy is right!
ReplyDeleteOh, my! It sure doesn't look like spring -- Welcome home. You've been missed.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Maggie -- What beautiful views -- and the snow makes it just stunning -- but it looks cold!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have come home to some lovely almost spring weather! I am cleaning the Sacred Yarn room -- OMG!!--- and I have the windows open-- finally a breathe of spring!
xoxo,
Vicki
As soon as I leave this comment, I'm going to find a map and discover exactly where you've been. It looks bleak up there. Looking forward to seeing more photos of your trip.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Thank you again for the visits that I will only see through your eyes

I hope that you enjoyed your holiday away from home - despite the winter weather. Best wishes for a Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteSo long since I was in Swaledale - these are lovely - I recall Arkengarthdale in a 70s summer when flowers bloomed in the dale. The snow settles the contours.
