Mosaic Monday # 70 - early signs of spring


For Mosaic Monday today I'm sharing some images of the beautiful countryside that surrounds our home as it begins to transition from winter to spring.
I found this lovely little ode to snowdrops, pretty little harbingers of spring already beginning to appear this month in gardens and lanes.

This month the weather has been wet and windy but there have been some beautiful sunny days too.
Here's what January has looked like hereabouts.
depleted log pile
moss growing on a cherry tree
clematite armandii "Apple Blossom" by the front door
daffodils in the garden
snowdrops;  catkins,  primroses, ajonc, wild orchid and late mushrooms in the lane
stormy skies above

silver birch trees swaying in the wind



late afternoon as rain clouds start to move over the village once again

Hazel or birch catkins, not sure which.
Another early sign of spring?

    What glorious pre-spring photos - I love the flowers. We have a few things sprouting a little - but nothing like you are showing. I do so look forward to spring.

    January is a beautiful month in Normandy. Love that first photo with the stone house. How eagerly we all anticipate spring. It's exciting to see all the harbingers in your garden.

    Daffodils already! Be still my heart. Mid-winter looks wonderful in Normandy...you have seasons, but not too severe apparently. I could live with that.

    How wonderful to see early signs of spring. We have just had a January thaw so most of snow is gone, but I’m sure more winter weather will be on its way.

    I love looking at the trees coming to life and shadows on the grass! And of course flowers are always a welcome sign of Spring. We have....wait for it....POLLEN already! heehee! But also some beautiful new red leaves on the maples! Enjoy your day! Happy MM! Hugs, Diane

    I love seeing your start of spring since yesterday we had six inches of snow (after a thaw, but still... I know. It's only January. The flowers are just lovely and so is your pretty home!

    Maggie - as you know, I am enjoying winter and in no rush for it to end. Having said that, I did feel a twinge of jealousy with the greening of your lawn, and the sight of daffodils. Sigh ... Your mosaics this week are bewitching, especially the ones of the trees. Thanks for hosting!
