Mosaic Monday from Hilton Head Island, SC.

I Saw From the Beach by Thomas Moore.

I saw from the beach, when the morning was shining,
A bark o'er the waters move gloriously on;
I came when the sun o'er that beach was declining,
The bark was still there, but the waters were gone.

And such is the fate of our life's early promise,
So passing the spring-tide of joy we have known;
Each wave that we danced on at morning ebbs from us,
And leaves us, at eve, on the bleak shore alone.

Oh, who would not welcome that moment's returning
When passion first waked a new life through his frame,
And his soul, like the wood that grows precious in burning,
Gave out all its sweets to love's exquisite flame.

It's Mosaic Monday over at Mary's Little Red House.

The weather here in Hilton Head, SC is glorious, so wonderfully warm.

After a so so summer in Normandy we are basking in the sunshine, reflecting and remembering the good times.

Soon after we arrived so did a welcome basket from "management" and a wonderful Autumnal floral arrangement from our friends Tony & Jan in the UK.

Tony was Roger's best man all those years ago (30) when we said our marriage vows and remains a close friend to this day.

Happy Mosaic Monday everyone, be sure to visit Mary @littleredhouse.

  2. Hi Maggie,
    Isn't Hilton Head beautiful? I was there last Novemeber when they were having unseasonably cold weather. The locals apologized everywhere I went for the lower-than-usual temperatures. I had fun anyway ... put on a jacket, rode a bicycle around the "plantation" to shops and restaurants, and took (short) brisk walks along the shore.

    Hope your week goes well!

  9. Salut Maggis. Well, we just missed you. We left Hilton Head on Saturday. We dawdled as long as we could before we finally left. We went and looked at another beach rental, then had lunch at "Just Pasta", then went around the corncer for ice cream - you ought to try the "pumpkin"! We finally got away after 12, instead of our normal 9:30 departure. ENJOY! We just left, but we still wish we were there! Linda

  11. Maggie and Roger, it's good to know you are at least in the same state. I am pleased the weather has been nice for you. You should just stay and go on over to Dallas now, or do you plan to?

    Have a great day!
    All best,
    Doris

  12. We have a home in HH Plantation. Next time you plan to come down let me know in advance. We were going to go down this weekend for a few days but had to babysit. I spend the entire summer there from May to July. Too hot in August and way to many jelly fish. We will live there all year in about 3 more years. Now is a great time to buy a home as the market is flooded so prices are lower then they have been in years. Enjoy your stay.

  15. Enjoy your time here in our lovely Southeast, so happy you have good weather - just wish I was closer and we could meet up! Happy anniversary too.

    Joanne Harris' book YOU will probably enjoy, being English! Set in an old established all boys school (crusty masters, latin, uniforms etc.)it may be a bit strange for Americans who aren't familiar with the classic British education system........however, she takes it and weaves a very stange and frightening story which kept me turning the pages! Won't say anymore in case you read it. I can see this one being made into a good movie some day - just like 'Chocolat'.

    Maggie, I'll be happy to mail you my copy (it's paperback) if you like. I really have nobody to pass it along to here. Just e-mail me with your mailing address and I'll send it off.
